Chris Paul Shares Major Personal Announcement Amid Eventful Summer

This summer has already been a milestone-filled one for NBA legend Chris Paul. After spending last season with the San Antonio Spurs, the 40-year-old guard made a homecoming by signing a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, the team where he once delivered some of the best basketball of his career. On Thursday, Paul added to his whirlwind offseason with a personal announcement that extends beyond the hardwood.

Taking to Instagram, the 12-time All-Star revealed the launch of The Chris Paul Collective (TCPC), a new initiative designed to bring together his business ventures and community projects under one umbrella. In his post, Paul expressed his excitement about building on everything he has worked toward throughout his career, while also introducing David Schwab as president of the Collective.

“Excited to introduce The @ChrisPaulCollective, our next chapter, bringing our business and community work under one roof,” Paul wrote. “This builds on everything we have created from day one. Grateful for our team, and excited to welcome David Schwab as President of TCPC as we scale this vision. Let’s get to work!”

While Paul’s off-court ambitions are taking shape, his future on the court remains a topic of intrigue. Back in July, the Wake Forest alum suggested that the 2024–25 season — his 21st in the NBA — could be his last. “At the most, a year,” he said at the time, noting that while he still loves the game, time with family has become increasingly important.

However, in an August interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews, Paul struck a less certain tone about retirement. “Yeah, I don’t know,” he admitted. “I think throughout this season, more than anything, I’ll definitely enjoy it. I don’t take this for granted.”

Whether this year proves to be his farewell tour or not, Paul’s legacy as one of the greatest point guards in NBA history is already secure. A future Hall of Famer, he remains in pursuit of the one achievement missing from his résumé — an NBA championship — while continuing to expand his influence far beyond the game itself.
